Pastene food shop opens.

Operated by Italian immigrant Pietro Pastene, it is located at 229 Hanover Street. The shop soon expands to 69 – 75 Fulton Street. The company goes on to becomes the Pastene Corporation, one of the largest importers of Italian food, and subsequently moves to New York.
